Raquel Huete is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology I and a researcher at the University Institute for Tourism Research at the University of Alicante (UA). With a PhD in Sociology and a degree in Tourism, she has experience in tourism companies, foundations and in the field of social research. In addition, she has held positions as Director General of Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana and has directed the Rafael Altamira Summer University. Her research career includes participation in numerous R&D, European projects and research contracts, especially focused on tourism and migration. She heads the research group on sustainable tourism planning and management at the UA. She has published articles in indexed scientific journals, book chapters and has participated in national and international conferences on tourism, being invited by international organizations such as the World Tourism Organization, the OECD and the European Parliament. In her research, she focuses on accessible tourism, the social sustainability of tourism and its relationship with residential migration. Her latest works include "Decoding digital nomad destination decisions through user-generated content" and "Accessible Tourism in Spain: How Are Smart Cities Performing?". She is also co-director of the journal Investigaciones Turísticas of the University of Alicante.
