Ekaterina Shebanova is a Young Research Trainee at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Tourism, University of Girona. Her PhD thesis is entitled ‘Tourism and Migration on the Move: Changing Identities. The case of the Russian Outbound Market’. She is a member of the Multidisciplinary Laboratory of Tourism Research Group at the University of Girona. Ekaterina’s professional background is in International Relations and Integration. Her Bachelor’s degree is in International Relations and her Master’s degree is in Tourism Product Development. Her research interests are human geography, geopolitics, mobilities, international migration, quality of life migration, globalization, migration development nexus in tourism and planning and development of tourism destinations. She has worked as a teaching assistant in “Management Skills” at the Faculty of Tourism, University of Girona. She is currently involved in the CICONIA project and has edited the book “Tourism and Mobilities”. Regarding mobility, she has completed two research stays at the University of Dalarna, Sweden. Her publications include an article in Tourism Geographies and her contribution to "Tourism and Mobilities". She has also participated in several congresses and conferences, including the ATLAS Annual Conference 2019 and 2021, the International Conference on Tourism & Leisure Studies 2021, and the SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE Women in Tourism 2023, among others.
