A study concludes what are the key factors in the destination decisions of digital nomads

Researchers from the University of Girona and Alicante have concluded what the factors are
that encourage digital nomads to choose their destinations to live and work.
The term “digital nomads” is increasingly common, people who, thanks to the
teleworking, they have chosen to live and work in different places around the world. Due to the rise of
this community, the CICONIA group researchers Javier S. Lacarcel and Raquel Huete from the University of Alicante together with Konstantina Zerva from the University of Girona, have identified a total of eleven factors that influence the destination decisions of digital nomads.


These eleven factors have been divided into three subgroups: Positive, negative or neutral. By
For example, loneliness and visa management would be within the negative subgroup, while
that the attraction for travel and cultural immersion within the positive.


The study has focused on the analysis of content generated by users on the Internet
social X, formerly known as Twitter, applying data mining techniques in this
content. The study concludes that quality of life and technological connectivity are the factors
keys to making destination decisions for digital nomads.
